Ted Mann’s work touches on renaissance styles, is fused with electro acoustic experimentation, and can be described as genuine and transcendental. His compositional style spans from dense intellectualism to ethereal spirituality. He displays a firm grasp of harmony and counterpoint. His collection appeals to the mind and the heart.

As a former student fro many years of jazz and classical composer Joe Maneri, Ted’s compositional foundation was heavily influenced by Arnold Schoenberg’s Theory of Harmony and Maneri’s experimental style. Ted’s body of work and instructional style exhibit his direct lineage to the second Viennese school and the Schoenberg method for Theory of Harmony.

“fantasy” / Ted Mann

Ted Mann’s piece,”Fantasy” was commissioned by Bateira Trio and performed at Carnegie Hall on January 28, 2014.

This combination of instruments, while not common, is very exciting to listen to. Compositional elements include sixteenth century Franco-Flemish contrapuntal techniques transformed with a modern aesthetic. Scores and parts are available upon request.
